Maxims, laws and habits of nature in Francis Bacon's natural philosophy

This paper intends to elucidate the nomological terminology employed in Francis Bacon's natural philosophy by focusing on the notions of maxims, laws and habits of nature as presented throughout Bacon's philosophical, theological, juridical and political writings. In doing so, I will try to reconstruct the hierarchy of nomological entities in Bacon's account of nature.
