Madness and Montage. Picture Therapy in Warburg’s Mnemosyne Project

W.J.T. Mitchell will present a new chapter of his »Seeing Madness« project, which has so far mainly concerned theater, opera, and cinema. As such, the presentation will be a ›work in progress‹. The basic idea of the lecture will be to look at the phenomenon of the Warburgian Bilderatlasor »picture
atlas« in the contexts of art history, anthropology, cinematic production,
surveillance techniques, and forensic science.
