Tenure Track Professorship: History of Science

As part of the federal and state program for the advancement of junior scholars, Technische Universität Berlin - Faculty I, Humanities and Educational Sciences, currently has a vacancy at the Institute of History and Philosophy of Science, Technology, and Literature, for a Tenure Track Professorship, remuneration group W1, fixed term 3+3 years, to be continued as a lifetime professorship, remuneration group W3 in “History of Science". The position shall be renewed for a further three years conditional upon the postholder’s performance and agreement. After six years, as a rule, a lifelong professorship will be offered conditional upon the fulfillment of the determined evaluation criteria and hiring requirements for a lifelong professorship.  

Work­ing field The position holder should represent the field of history of science in research and teaching and actively participate in interdisciplinary collaborations within the Institute,the Faculty and the University. In research she*he shall have a focus in the field of the history of natural sciences from the early modern period onwards and shall resonate with the profile of the Institute, the Faculty and the University. Lecturing has to cover the field of History of Science in all epochs, both in the Bachelor program «Culture and Technology» and the Master program «Theory and History of Science and Technology».  

Require­ments In the context of strategic internationalization, the ability to teach in English is a prerequisite for the hiring of future position holders. The assumption of responsibility for leadership and management of a department and its employees as well as the ability to promote junior scholars and women are required, as are gender and diversity skills and active commitment to knowledge and technology transfer and science communication.
